Items
Introduction
There are quite a few changes in the items area:
- As you'll see below, V&K raised the damage levels on the two handed weapons to make playing a warrior with a two handed weapon and no shield more attractive.
- Many of the prefixes and suffixes not previously possible on bows now are, which is good news for all the rogues out there ;-)
- The new Great Staff item type is good news for all those playing monks.
- In the September 1999 version of the mod a set of very high powered armour and weapons were added, all designed for those jaunts into hell/hell and abyss/hell.
- Note also the addition of some higher level monsters. Higher level monsters can drop higher level items - this makes your quest for the ultra powerful items no longer confined to torturing Wirt.
- And last (but definately not least), there are a whole new stack of powerful unique items to go lusting after!
- Changes to old basic items

- Chain Mail replaced with Heavy Mail, which has an AC of 35-70

Old unique items still available
Here's a list of the unique items which still are in the game and can still be found.
Please note:
- In addition to the items listed, all the single-player quest items are still findable; not that you're even meant to be playing single-player ;-)
- Some of these items were unfindable in normal Diablo and Hellfire
- (HF) = A Hellfire item, not available in Diablo
|
Unique items no longer findable
In order to "make room" for the new unique items, some of the regular Hellfire unique items were removed in the V&K mod.
Be aware that if you are porting an existing Hellfire character across to the V&K mod, any of these items will morph into something completely different . . .

Stealth items
There are eight unique items that all provide the negative light radius that is necessary for achieving -80% light radius, or "stealth mode". They are:
| Item | Light radius |
| Doombringer (broad sword) | -20% |
| Evil Crown | -40% |
| Gibbous Moon (broad sword) | -30% |
| Gotterdamerung (great helm) | -40% |
| Nightscape (cape) | -40% |
| Scarab of Gloom (amulet) | -40% |
| The One Ring | -70% |
| The Ungodly Plate (war plate) | -30% |
There are seven unique items that all provide the constant Infravision necessary to prevent a stealth run from turning into an exercise in wall ramming. They are:
| Item | Notes |
| Helm of Guard | Grants +20% light radius; stealth mode difficult to achieve with this on |
| Mail of Guard | Same problem as the Helm of Guard: increased light radius |
| Ring of the Cat | |
| Shield of Guard | |
| Shield of the Sun | Grants +30% light radius; stealth mode difficult to achieve with this on |
| The One Ring | Near impossible to find :( |
| The Ungodly Plate |
